Many people assume
that Lyme disease is an American disorder, and that it magically stops
at the border. The deer ticks just know that they shouldn't cross into
the Canadian or Mexican (or even overseas) forests. This irrational
assertion causes the suffering of thousands or millions of people
worldwide. Finally, we have a new book that treats Lyme disease
scientifically and pinpoints its existence outside the borders of the
USA, in Canada.

Lyme is fast becoming a public health disaster in Canada. Approximately 20,000 Canadians get sick with Lyme disease each year - but they are not allowed access to internationally recognized tests and are denied successful treatments. The Lyme disease infection is treatable with antibiotics; even in its chronic form.
In the year 2000, the Canadian Medical Association published proof that Lyme disease is “endemic throughout Canada”. In October 2008, the US Center for Disease Control declared it to be an “epidemic in North America,” having increased by over 100% since 1992. This tick-borne infectious disease is spread by deer, cats, dogs, horses, field-mice, and migratory birds; more than 200 strains of the causative spirochetal bacterium have evolved since it was first described in 1909. Yet, Canadians are routinely told by their doctors that Lyme does not exist in Canada and that there is no such thing as its chronic form – its most devastating form, also known as “the great imitator”: More than 19,000 publications in mainstream clinical journals have shown that chronic Lyme may develop into Parkinson’s, ALS, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, Alzheimer’s, Crohn’s, Scleroderma, and up to 50% of Multiple Sclerosis may be due to untreated Lyme infections. The spirochetes cross the placenta and also enter into breast milk, so many
cases of autism have been proven to be due to the Lyme
Canadian doctors are frequently persecuted by their licensing authorities when treating Chronic Lyme cases according to international standards; the Canadian Blood Services do not even screen for Lyme (as most other countries do, including the US), and Canada’s Medicare system endorses only tests for Lyme known to produce false negatives. Canada’s doctors are not permitted to use tests that are internationally known to be reliable.
This book examines the reasons for this corruption of medicine and erosion of public health standards in Canada.
This book is for you if you or a loved one suffers from:
• Multiple Sclerosis
Ending Denial is a very important book because it is the first
of its kind to chronicle the reality of chronic Lyme disease in
Canada. Other books have been written on this topic; none focus
on Canada. The following is additional commentary on the book:
"If you or
someone you love may be suffering from Lyme diasease, this book is
for you. If you want to know what's wrong with the Canadian health
care system, this book is for you. If you have wondered why every
conversation about our health care system ends up being about money,
this book is for you. Read it and bear witness to the courage of
those who challenge the status quo and truly put patients first.
Read it to help protect yourself from the vested interests that have
kept doctors and patients in the dark about the true nature of Lyme
disease. REad it to understand how blindly doing what the doctor
says may be the most dangerous thing you could do for your own
H Young, M.P., Oakville, Author of PRESCRIPTION 2009
is about the incomprehensible failure of our governments, federal
and provincial, and our medical education system to deal rationally
with an emerging infectious disease. Should you be scared? Yes and
no. To be human is to be vulnerable to illness. Being alive means
being part of the catastrophe of existence. Bacteria can be dealt
with, though. Medical science knows how more often than not. What is
far more dangerous than the potential for disease is apathy - and
that criminal exploitation of human vulnerability to disease for its
own ends. If this book makes you constructively - coldly, rationally
- angry so as to propel you into action in the defense of yourself
and your neighbors, its purpose has been achieved. We must demand
that our authorities and institutions do what we mandate them
to do, what in the language of our laws is called 'to serve and
protect the public interest.' "
