I’m not the first one to write about it, but Turmeric appears to be very useful for treating Lyme disease. Some ancient societies considered it the “herb of all herbs.”

In Lyme disease it has confirmed anti-inflammatory properties. In Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine it is considered a “cooling” herb, and can be used for inflammation which is a “heat” condition.

The following isn’t confirmed but is a hunch: I believe Turmeric may even have some cyst busting capabilities. Not because it attacks the bacteria, but instead, because it reduces inflammation and changes the bioterrain enough that the bacteria living throughout the body may be inclined to change bacterial form, especially into spirochete form (this is unconfirmed observation; I’d love to hear your experiences in the comments section below).

As a spice, turmeric is relatively non-toxic and affordable, so if you find yourself stagnating in your recovery process you probably don’t have much to lose in trying it, although, of course, don’t do so unless you have the permission of your doctor.

According to Marshall Protocol advocates, Turmeric is one of the substances which can reduce TNF-alpha, which is one of the reasons it is anti-inflammatory (reference).

For the same reaosn, turmeric may also be useful during herxheimer reactions. It may also help with whole-body inflammation that can occur after Lyme exasperations such as that occur after eating too much processed sugar. Again, please share your experiences below in order to confirm / deny these observations.

The brand I’ve used is Turmeric Force, made by New Chapter, which is a brand I’ve generally found to be good.

Hopefully this new information is helpful. Look forward to your comments.

Scientific Advancement

Mesosilver brand colloidal silver is the result of thousands of hours of research and development conducted at the
Colloidal Science Laboratory, Inc.
(CSL) over a period of several years. Purest Colloids, Inc. is the exclusive worldwide producer of MesoSilver. The resulting product, with a particle surface area many times greater than other products of this type, provides more usable silver to the body. To better understand how to compare colloidal silver products, see

Mesosilver is the Most Effective Colloidal Silver

Many products are advertised as being colloidal silver, but in fact are mostly ionic silver solutions. A true silver colloid consists mostly of silver particles. Read What is Ionic Silver? to learn what other producers don’t want you know. Mesosilver has the highest percentage of it’s silver content in the form of sub-nanometer silver particles, not silver ions. To understand why the surface area of the silver particles is the key to colloidal effectiveness read Colloidal Silver Effectiveness.

What is the Active Ingredient in Mesosilver?

Mesosilver is 0.9999 pure silver sub-nanometer sized particles suspended in pure deionized water. This combination is called colloidal silver. The silver nanoparticles in Mesosilver typically measure 0.65 nanometers or less in diameter, which is slightly larger than twice the diameter of an atom of silver. Each silver nanoparticle consists of approximately 9 silver atoms. Because these silver particles are so small and the concentration of particles is high, the result is a silver colloid with a very high particle surface area. In the world of chemistry, surface area determines how effectively a substance will react with its environment. Silver particles are non-toxic to humans.

The powerful combination of properties!

Mesosilver combines small particle size and high particle concentration, a powerful combination of properties, to produce a colloidal silver product that has the highest particle surface area of any colloidal silver product ever tested. The Comparison Table shows how the particle surface area of Mesosilver compares to other products.

Feeling Worse Before Feeling Better?

Some users experience a Herxheimer reaction when using colloidal silver.

Simply stated, it is a reaction that occurs when the body is detoxifying and the released toxins which can produce headaches, body ache, joint pain, sweating, general malaise, sore throat, nausea and/or flu-like symptoms.
More details here…

You should not use this product if you are allergic to silver!

Allergic reactions to silver, while not unheard of, are uncommon. Someone having an allergic reaction to silver would not be able to handle a metallic silver object such as silver jewelry without causing an allergic reaction. Those who are uncertain if they are allergic to silver should apply a few drops to the back of the hand to see if an allergic reaction results. If you do not see a reaction within 30 minutes you can be fairly certain that you are not allergic to silver.

Dosage

The dosage for Mesosilver is typically between one teaspoon (5mL) and one tablespoon (15mL) daily to help maintain health. One to four tablespoons taken 4 times per day may be taken to help fortify the immune system when needed. Actual dosage will vary based on individual needs.

A 500 mL bottle will provide a one month supply when used at a dosage of one tablespoon per day

Color

Unlike most colloidal silver products, Mesosilver is a clear amber colored liquid, looking like dark iced tea. It is the very high concentration of Mesosilver particles, not size or contamination, that gives Mesosilver its distinctive coloration.

Previously, it was thought that such a dark color indicated the presence of large silver particles, which is the case for colloidal silver produced by methods other than the mesoprocess. The small size of the silver particles is confirmed by the use of a state-of-the-art scientific instrument designed specifically for measuring such small particles. Produced by Malvern Instruments, Ltd. of the United Kingdom, the High Performance Particle Sizer (HPPS) is capable of measuring colloidal particles down to 0.6 nm diameter. The particle size report from the Malvern HPPS indicates that the size of the silver particles in Mesosilver is 0.65 nm in diameter, or only slightly more than two times the diameter of a silver atom making these particles the smallest silver particles of any product on the market.

Once the bottle is opened the color of Mesosilver may change to gray depending on the atmospheric pollutants found in the air. This color change does not indicate a problem with the product and is not cause for concern. The effectiveness is not effected. The color change to gray is commonly found in large cities like Boston, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Detroit, Denver, and in many cities in California.

In my book The Top 10 Lyme Disease Treatments, http://www.defeatlyme.com, I talk about Mangosteen as being one of the best supplements for Lyme disease for many reasons, including its powerful antibiotic charcteristics. However, I mention a product in the book, Xango, which I no longer believe is the best route to take. Here’s why.

Xango has some mangosteen in it but also many other ingredients. Lots of fruit juices which have unnecessary sugar. So, I found a better brand, 100% pure mangosteen juice with NO additives – http://www.mangosteens.com. A great product, and can create a massive herx reaction.

However, for those who want the concentrated form, the powder from mangosteen pericarp (the pericarp is the outer rind, or shell, of the fruit, and has all the nutrients, and must be consumed in powder form since it is chewy and hard and can’t be eaten alone) to avoid the sugar content, I wrote the following post on the Lyme and rife group wth some additional information.

—–

The juice itself should taste pretty good, maybe even the best
tasting fruit in the world, according to many, as it is known
as “queen of the fruits.” If the stuff you have is bad tasting, maybe
mix it with some orange juice?

Speaking of which, I am currently trying to locate some pericarp
powder (powder made from the rind of the mangosteen where all the
important xanthones and nutrients are) so that people can use the
supplement without all the sugar contained in the juices.

Personally, I would prefer the powder no matter how bad it tastes,
since I don’t like all the sugar in the juices. So far I’ve located a
few sources of the powder:

http://www.physicianformulas.com/store/scripts/prodview.asp?idproduct=219&name=Mangosteen

http://farocompany.com/

http://www.amermed.com/mangosteen.htm

http://www.vitalxan.com.au/

I had a long talk on the phone last night with the owner of the
VitalXan company in Australia, and I think his product looks pretty
good.

Most of the product websites for these items are pretty bad, bad
spelling, dysfunctional pages, so I’m not sure how that reflects on
the quality of the products.

Any comments, reports, etc., are welcomed and encouraged.

Bryan

—–

Later, I received this report from a Lyme sufferer:

Hi, All:

I took mangosteen pericarp from www.farocompany.com for a little over a month (2 caps twice a day). I got my labs from last month and my white count went up to 6.0!!! It has hit 5.0 once or twice in five years of treatment, and usually is 3.0 to 4.0. (“Normal” is 4.0 to 11.0)

My doctor believes that it “woke up” my immune system. Yea, God!!!!

Blessings,

Bonnie

—–

Pretty neat! I plan to include this update in a later version of my Lyme disease annual reports.

I also made a video that reviews some mangosteen products:

Sure, pharmaceutical antibiotics have their use, but natural antibacterial substances present several important advantages:

Over-the-counter

Non-toxic

Typically does not contribute to candida issues

May also target many other infectious bacteria/viruses/organisms

Not synthetic – no liver and kidney side effects (typically)

Many more advantages

Today we are looking at garlic specifically. Keep reading…

You can see by reading my book, The Top 10 Lyme Disease Treatments, that I believe natural antibiotics have an important place in Lyme disease treatment. Here is an excerpt from the book which provides several of the most popular antibacterial supplements.

Natural garlic, eaten raw or in supplement form, is typically too weak to elicit real benefit in Lyme. Hence, many people give up on garlic. However, when the derivative of garlic is used, known as “allicin,” the supplement is much stronger and some people say 100 times stronger. So, Lyme sufferers may wish to give it a try. Strong herxing may result so be careful.

Here are two brands of allicin derivative that I am aware of. There may be others; these aren’t necessarily the best. If you have anything to add to these two companies, please do so here by leaving a comment below.

Alli-C by Affinity Products:
http://www.calcompnutrition.com/alli-c.html

Allimed by Allimax Company:
http://www.allimax.us/products.php

If you use these supplements for Lyme disease, please share your results! Post them here in a comment, or participate in one of our forums:

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Lyme-and-rife/

http://www.lymecommunity.com

—————————-

Below is a recent post from the lyme-and-rife group in which we discussed these issues:

This is indeed a very useful topic for this discussion group. Glad it
came up. Personally I think even the strongest garlic, e.g. allicin
extract, is just a strong natural antibiotic, probably not sufficient
to cure Lyme.

However, it is critical that you do not misinterpret this statement.
While I believe that rifing is in many cases the core, or
foundational treatment for the long haul, I *also believe* that
natural antibacterial supplements like garlic, colloidal silver,
etc., are *extremely valuable* and important and sometimes even
*essential.*

I often talk about the “push, pull” game that can be played with rife
and antibiotics. Rife pulls, antibiotics push (metaphorically
speaking). I think both can be important. I think, like teammates,
you may need both to win the game.

Interestingly, in Pamela Weintraub’s new book, Cure Unknown (
http://www.lymebook.com/cure-unknown-pamela-weintraub ), she talks
about how she herself was CURED from Lyme. Interestingly she used a
strategy very similar to the rife strategy I discuss in my book Lyme
Disease and Rife Machines, but instead of a rife machine, she used
antibiotics, but only *after* the bacterial infection had completely
relapsed. So the theme here is definitely to let the bacteria come
out then hit it hard with antibiotics or rife. In my case I believe
in mostly rife but definitely “sprinkling” in antibiotics when needed.

So I think they are teammates. In fact, in Lyme Disease and Rife
Machines, I make the following statement:

“When progress with rife machines seems to be slowing…There may be a
large population of variant-form (i.e., L-form) organisms that are
not susceptible to rife treatments. Ironically, antibiotics can be
of help in this situation even though the variant-form organisms may
have been caused by excessive use of the wrong antibiotics in the
first place…limited use of appropriate variant-form antibiotics may
accelerate progress.”

In this chapter I go on to describe a way to use antibiotics that I
believe is rational, moderate, and takes maximum advantage of the
advantages of both rife and antibiotics while minimizing their
disadvantages.

So, all this to say…I think the use of allicin can be very
valuable. Just remember the basic principles of any antibiotic, as
described in my book “The Top 10 Lyme Disease Treatments”:

Principle # 1
Every antibiotic has a short time frame of
effectiveness

Principle # 2
Breaks must be taken between courses of antibiotics

Principle # 3
Rife machine therapy is used during breaks from
antibiotics

Principle # 4
A new and different antibiotic should be used for
each round of treatment

Principle # 5
Various adjunctive therapies can increase the
effectiveness of antibiotics

Principle # 6
Antibiotic use must be spread out over a long period
of time

Along these lines, I think, antibiotic use can be excellent. The
problems arise when the antibiotics are used NOT according to these
guidelines.

I’d love to keep hearing from people who have used garlic/allicin
supplements.

Several people have told me that they think Stem Enhance has helped them, and I am in no position to doubt them. If it helps you, great! However, I have come across some shocking information…read on…

First, here is the product in question:

http://www.stemtechbiz.com/product_1_sub.aspx

This product appears to offer enhancement to stem cell release. OK, so how do they do that? Well, the primary ingredient in the product is aphanizomenon flos-aquae. What is this? It is blue-green algae. This makes me a little suspicious and dissapointed. The miracle stem-enhancer is algae? Check out this article:

http://www.tldp.com/issue/167/algae.html

Also:

http://www.mlmwatch.org/04C/Stemtech/stemtech.html

OK, I admit. The above is just speculation on the possible dangers/scam of this product. Again, if it has helped you, great! Just wanted to share the research I found.
